Why subscribe?

This is a blog about who we are and where we came from. I started out trying to answer the first question with Machine Learning and Psychometrics, the topic of my dissertation. While describing that work I fell down a rabbit hole of how language has produced selective pressure for Theory of Mind, and am cobbling together a theory that there was a phase change in self-awareness 50,000-10,000 years ago. To answer the “where we came from” question I (an amateur) draw from mythology, linguistics, and genetics. It’s a bit like if Julian Jaynes had the internet and some familiarity with genetics.

So subscribe to read whatever I’m on about lately. If the consciousness stuff turns out to be a dead end, I’ve still got plenty to say about personality research.
